CipherCloud Selected as SINET 16 Innovator and Presenting Cloud Encryption Gateway at 2011 SINET Showcase

CUPERTINO, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 11, 2011) - CipherCloud, a leading provider of cloud data security and compliance solutions for cloud applications, today announced that it has been selected as a SINET 16 Innovator. CipherCloud will present its cloud encryption gateway during the 2011 SINET Showcase, to be held October 26 at the National Press Club in Washington D.C.; the showcase is supported by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate. The Security Innovation Network (SINET) initiatives are designed to advance innovation and enable collaboration between the public and private sectors to defeat global cybersecurity threats.

More than 100 emerging technology companies applied and were carefully vetted in a two-stage process by the SINET Showcase Steering Committee for the opportunity to present innovative and potentially disruptive cybersecurity solutions to an audience of representatives from defense, homeland security, intelligence and civilian federal agencies as well as from commercial, investment and research communities. CipherCloud will be one of 16 companies presenting their solutions on stage.

"The quality of the companies we saw in this year's SINET 16 Innovator process was exceptional, which made selections very challenging for the steering committee. We are confident that by raising awareness of CipherCloud and other finalists, they will have a direct and significant impact on meeting the most pressing security needs of Federal Government and private industry. As the Federal Government moves to the cloud, it must be vigilant to ensure the security and proper management of government information to protect the privacy of citizens and national security," said Robert Rodriguez, chairman and managing principal of SINET.

"According to the Federal Cloud Computing Strategy Report, an estimated $20 billion of the Federal Government's $80 billion in IT spending is a potential target for migration to cloud computing solutions. The Cloud First policy requires agencies to evaluate safe, secure cloud computing options prior to making any new investments in IT. However, concerns about data residency, security, privacy and regulatory compliance have kept many federal agencies and enterprises from adopting cloud and SaaS applications," said Pravin Kothari, CipherCloud founder and CEO. "The SINET Showcase 2011 offers us a great opportunity to demonstrate our revolutionary cloud encryption gateway. Our ability to eliminate cloud security and privacy concerns without impacting application performance or user experience is going to be welcomed by organizations that want to take advantage of the cloud."
