Cirtas Systems and Amazon Web Services Team to Host Live Webinar: Primary Storage That Doesn't Need Backups

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - November 9, 2010) -  Cirtas Systems, the first company to make cloud storage work like onsite enterprise storage arrays, today announced it has teamed with Amazon Web Services to co-sponsor a live webinar event on November 18. The webinar "Primary Storage That Doesn't Need Backups," explains how companies can leverage the physical data protection provided by Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and the logical data protection delivered by the Cirtas Bluejet Cloud Storage Controller to deliver a primary storage system that offers the same data protection of traditional onsite storage, but without the added complexity and expense of performing offsite backups.

The one-hour event, which offers insights from Amazon Web Services Evangelist Jeff Barr and Cirtas VP of Marketing and Product Management Josh Goldstein, will discuss how traditional backups protect data, the complexity involved in implementing them, and how they can be eliminated altogether by harnessing the power of cloud storage in conjunction with a cloud storage controller

Amazon S3's architecture automatically provides powerful physical data protection; combined with the Cirtas Bluejet Cloud Storage Controller's CloudSnap snapshot technology, they inherently deliver continuous data protection (CDP) in enterprise primary storage systems.

"The total cost of data ownership involves much more than just the dollars per gigabyte spent on primary storage. The cost of secondary storage systems for backup and disaster recovery are significant and often exceed the cost of the primary storage system," said Goldstein. "Cirtas makes it possible to leverage the power of cloud storage to address this challenge. For the first time, enterprises can do more than simply reduce the cost of backups or shorten the backup window -- now they can eliminate them altogether. The cloud not only makes this possible, but easy too."

The live webinar: "Primary Storage That Doesn't Need Backups" will air on November 18th at 10:00 AM PST / 1:00 PM EST and again at 11:00 AM PST / 2:00 PM EST. Interested parties may register for free at: http://www.cirtas.com/cirtas-amazon-webinar-november-18th-2010.
