Cirtas Systems Wins Red Herring Global 100 Award

Provider of Bluejet Hybrid Cloud Storage Controller Recognized Among the 100 Most Promising Technology Startups in the World

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - January 28, 2011) - Cirtas Systems, the first company to make cloud storage work like onsite enterprise storage, announced today that it has been named to the 2010 Global 100 by Red Herring. This prestigious recognition honors the hundred most promising private companies in the world, each of which is revolutionizing their industry through technology innovation. In June 2010, Cirtas was named a Red Herring North America 100 company, and then advanced to the Red Herring Global 100 finals.

The Red Herring Global 100 award has become a mark of distinction for identifying promising new companies and entrepreneurs. Red Herring's editors were among the first to identify companies such as Google, Skype, Netscape,, YouTube, eBay and many others, as value innovation leaders that would change the way we live and work.

"Choosing the best out of the previous three years was by no means a small feat," said Alex Vieux, Chairman of Red Herring. "After rigorous contemplation and discussion, we narrowed down our list from 1,200 potential companies to 200 finalists. Trying to get it down to 100 companies was a task upon itself. Cirtas should be extremely proud of its achievement, the competition was difficult."

The Red Herring editorial team selected the 2010 Global 100 from a pool of 1,200 companies from across the globe -- all finalists from its Red Herring Asia, Europe and North America Awards. The nominees were evaluated on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technology innovation, quality of management, execution of strategy, and integration into their respective industries. The assessment was then complemented by a deep dive review of each company's track record and standing relative to their sector peers, allowing Red Herring to look beyond the hype to formulate a definitive list of leading innovators that serves as an valuable instrument of discovery and advocacy, highlighting the greatest business opportunities from around the world.

"It is our great pleasure to receive this award from Red Herring and an honor to be recognized among the world's most promising technology companies," said Gary Messiana, CEO of Cirtas Systems. "This provides further validation of the impact Cirtas' Bluejet Cloud Storage Controller has in the enterprise data center and how hybrid cloud storage is changing the way organizations think about their storage and data center architectures. Cirtas will continue to innovate and enable the enterprise to simplify their storage environment and reduce their total cost of data storage by leveraging the power of the cloud."
