HD encoder (Model D9054™) gives our customers a powerful implementation
of the newest MPEG-4/H.264 toolset for incredible high-quality, HD video at
bandwidth-saving bit rates.
New Decoder Supports HD AVC, IP and Flexible Conditional Access Options --
In addition to delivering Scientific Atlanta's widely-deployed PowerVu
conditional access (CA) scheme, the new D9854 HD AVC decoder will also
support multiple, third-party CA systems for added flexibility. For
IP-centric headends, the decoder also will deliver MPEG over IP
capabilities for delivery of IP video streams. An integrated DVB-S2
demodulation option will help to expand the content capacity of existing
satellites by up to 30 percent.
New Advanced Receiver Transcoder Supports Legacy and Future HD Delivery --
An Advanced Receiver Transcoder (ART) technology concept demonstration at
NAB will demonstrate how programmers/broadcasters can deliver a single
MPEG-4 HD feed to meet both the current and future MPEG-4 HD and MPEG-2 HD
video reception needs of cable, telecom and DTH providers. The ART
prototype will demonstrate the flexibility and value of transcoding MPEG-4
HD to MPEG-2 HD to support legacy service while providing a forward-looking
solution for future MPEG-4 HD services, all from a single MPEG-4 feed. In
the future, plans call for the ART to transcode MPEG-4 HD to standard
definition video.
Flexible, Powerful Digital Content Management -- Our Digital Content
Manager (DCM) delivers massive video processing horsepower for SD and HD
programming, plus the versatility for seamless, customer-pleasing regional
digital program insertion (DPI) and revenue-generating local ad insertion.
The DCM also supports our new stat mux architecture (demonstrated at the
show) which will enable content distributors and broadcasters to enjoy the
freedom to mix SD and HD content in MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 formats to give them
extensive flexibility as they assemble programming lineups.
New Media and The Connected Home -- Cisco and Scientific Atlanta can help
broadcasters build a competitive edge and capitalize on existing video
