Cisco SVP Is Opening Speaker at Biggest Tech Event in Midwest

Howard Charney, known as "The Godfather of Ethernet," has worked for more than 30 years in Silicon Valley in a variety of roles, notably being responsible for turning Fast Ethernet and low-cost switching into fundamental, global Internet technologies. Charney was founder of Grand Junction Networks (later acquired by Cisco for more than US$2.4 billion), and co-founder of 3Com, the progenitor of Ethernet and local area networking. Technologies spearheaded by Charney enabled Internet access to the desktop.
