Citadel Security Software Announces Hercules Security Appliance for Enterprise Vulnerability Management and Compliance Solutions

Easy-to-Deploy Appliance and Pay-per-Use Pricing Lowers Cost to Entry for IT Security and Compliance Management

DALLAS, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 6, 2005 -- Citadel Security Software Inc. (NASDAQ: CDSS), a leader in enterprise vulnerability management and security policy compliance solutions, today announced the general availability of the Hercules Security Appliance. Citadel's award-winning, enterprise vulnerability management suite, Hercules, can now be delivered via a preconfigured hardware appliance, giving organizations a simple, reliable and affordable way to start securing their networks. Additionally, Citadel's unique Security-On-Demand pricing model allows users to pay for compliance audits and remediation actions as they are performed, further minimizing upfront expenditures.

"We needed a solution that would allow us to manage the increasing volume, frequency and complexity of security threats with speed and accuracy," said Andrew Levi, CEO of Aztec Systems. "As a beta customer of the new Hercules Security Appliance, we are very pleased with how easy the product is to install and deploy and how quickly we are able to remediate vulnerabilities and determine whether our systems are compliant with our security policies. With Hercules, we have been able to automate a number of IT processes, which has helped us use our resources more effectively and reduce the risk of our systems being compromised."

The Hercules Security Appliance is an all-in-one, rack-mountable appliance that offers Citadel's full suite of proven vulnerability management solutions. The Security Appliance includes Hercules Compliance Manager and Hercules Remediation Manager pre-configured and ready to deploy within any organization, including small to mid-sized businesses as well as large enterprises. With Citadel's Hercules Security Appliance, organizations can immediately receive the benefit of enterprise-class security compliance and enforcement along with vulnerability assessment and remediation. Citadel's Security-On-Demand usage-based pricing model allows customers to deploy the full Hercules offering and pay for the number of remediations or compliance audits performed.

"Information security continues to be at the top of executives' priority lists. Citadel's strategy of providing integrated security compliance with their proven remediation offering just makes sense. A preconfigured appliance delivering the same capabilities used by The U.S. Department of Defense seems an attractive solution for corporate IT organizations," said Bruce Richardson, Chief Research Officer of AMR Research. "In addition, Citadel's innovative pricing model, where organizations only pay for what they use, is a first for the security industry and has the potential to change the dynamics of how organizations acquire security software."

Pricing and Availability

The Hercules Security Appliance is available now direct from Citadel and will be available through Citadel's network of Secure Channel Partners consisting of regional and national security services providers who resell security products to complement their existing security, networking and consulting services. Customers may choose from several pricing options to suit their business needs:
