Cite de l'Energie Premieres New Evening Show

SHAWINIGAN, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - July 3, 2012) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, took the opportunity of tonight's grand premiere of the show, Amos Daragon, to note that the Government of Canada has granted the Cité de l'Énergie funding for this project.

"By investing in tourism development in Mauricie, the Government of Canada is demonstrating its firm commitment to the economy and employment in the region," said Minister Lebel.

Since it was founded in 1997, the Cité de l'Énergie has become a major tourist attraction generating substantial economic benefits for the Mauricie region. The project involved designing, developing and staging a new cultural production to replace Éclyps, a blockbuster evening show that had been running since the summer of 2007. The financial assistance from Canada Economic Development allowed the Cité de l'Énergie to cover part of the creation and production costs and acquire technical equipment.

Information:

The $750,000 non-repayable contribution announced in February 2012 was granted through Canada Economic Development's Community Diversification program.
