Citi Cards Helps U.S. Troops Call Home for the Holidays, Donates AT&T Prepaid Phone Cards to Military Personnel Overseas

100,000 AT&T Phone Cards to Be Distributed to U.S. Military Members

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - December 20, 2010) - In appreciation of their service to the country, Citi Cards (NYSE: C) is helping American troops abroad stay in touch with family and friends during the holiday season. Through its long-standing relationship with AT&T, Citi Cards is donating 100,000 AT&T prepaid phone cards, with an approximate total retail value of $700,000, to military personnel stationed overseas. Each phone card will provide military members with 20 minutes of free international talk time to the U.S. from AT&T military calling centers in areas like Iraq and Afghanistan.

"At Citi, we recognize the sacrifices that our troops and their families make when loved ones are stationed abroad," said Jud Linville, CEO of Citi Cards. "Through our long-standing relationship with AT&T and with the help of the USO and our Citi Veterans Employee Network, we're pleased to be able to help our troops stay connected with their families and friends over the holidays."

The USO will assist Citi with the distribution of 70,000 prepaid phone cards during their celebrity entertainment tours and special events while Citi's Military Veteran's Employee Network will coordinate the donation of 30,000 cards to military personnel in the 1st Marine Division stationed in Afghanistan.

"Having served as a Marine in Iraq, I know that the holidays are one of the most difficult times of the year for those serving away from home. A simple phone call can make all the difference in the world," added Chris Perkins, founder of the Citi Military Veterans Employee Network.

Citi was one of the first financial services companies to launch an official Military Veterans Network for employees. Launched in 2009, Citi's Veterans Initiative is a U.S. based program designed to support military veterans and their families in communities across the country through recruiting, mentoring, leadership and community outreach programs.

This donation reflects the long standing relationship between Citi Cards and AT&T. Since 1998, Citi and AT&T have helped people stay connected through the AT&T Universal Card program, one of the largest and most successful co-branded credit card programs in the industry. AT&T Universal Card customers enjoy 30 free phone minutes each month that can be used for international and domestic long distance, plus 2 free directory assistance calls per month.

AT&T offers its retail locations as cell phone recycling drop-off spots and shares part of the recycling proceeds with Cell Phones for Soldiers, a charity that provides free phone cards to military members. Donations to Cell Phones for Soldiers can be made by texting CP4S to 740.
