City of Albuquerque Partners With AppWorx Corporation to Orchestrate and Manage Complex IT Processing

BELLEVUE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 14, 2006 -- AppWorx Corporation today announced that the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico has implemented AppWorx process automation software to better manage citywide application processing. AppWorx ensures accurate and timely execution of the IT processes that support the city's critical business processes.

"Many of the processes that our citizens depend upon cross multiple applications and operating systems," said Jim Reed, production control administrator, city of Albuquerque. "As we migrated to Oracle's® PeopleSoft Enterprise, it became obvious that we needed a tool to orchestrate and manage processing within and among the other applications in our IT environment."

PeopleSoft's onboard scheduling tool was unable to handle the city's complex utility billing processes. Employees were faced with manually submitting tasks each night, one at a time. Manual submissions are slow, prone to data-entry errors and can allow a process step to run out of sequence. They also relegate valuable IT staff resources to reactive, mundane tasks.

The city tested, implemented and put AppWorx into production in less than six weeks. Using AppWorx automation, Reed can apply multiple conditional logic statements to individual steps within a process flow -- removing manual touch points and enforcing event-driven business rules to reduce risk, increase visibility and compress processing timelines.

"We've been able to automate many of the manual bottlenecks in our process flows and can orchestrate entire end-to-end processes," said Reed. "That functionality, coupled with automatic error notifications, has allowed us to focus on IT innovation rather than application babysitting."

"Application process automation is a sure way to reduce IT operations costs while improving the efficiency, accuracy and visibility of cross-application, cross-platform business processes," said Dan McCall, COO, AppWorx Corporation. "We're excited to welcome the city of Albuquerque to our growing list of governmental customers seeking a single point of control for their disparate application landscapes."
