City of Houston Chooses Infoblox Appliances to Deliver Highly Reliable, Scalable and Secure DNS and DHCP Services

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 23, 2005 -- Infoblox Inc., a developer of network identity infrastructure (NII) systems, today announced that the City of Houston, the 4th largest city in North America with a population of more than 2 million residents, has selected and deployed Infoblox appliances to deliver highly reliable and manageable domain name resolution and IP address management services.

Founded in 1836, the city of Houston has more than 20,000 employees and continues to rapidly grow. The city network is leveraged by its employees to perform services related to air traffic control, justice, emergency medical service and library systems, as well as several financial, human resource and work order management functions, among others.

With so many residents and city employees relying on the network and its services, providing 24x7 access to the network and the information necessary for the city's various departments to continually operate requires highly reliable, scalable and secure domain name resolution and IP address management services. Security of DNS services is a pressing concern in view of recent attacks that jeopardized several city of Houston domains. Reliability and scalability are also essential to the effective operation of advanced applications, such as SAP and Voice over IP (VoIP), which the city plans to deploy.

To address these requirements, the City of Houston selected and deployed Infoblox appliances running the DNSone™ module, which provides integrated domain name system (DNS) and dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP)-based services in a security-hardened, easy-to-deploy and maintain appliance with built-in high-availability features, an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) and comprehensive management capabilities.

"The reduced network complexity and intuitive GUI have dramatically improved our departmental efficiency. Even more important, we are establishing a foundation that can mitigate vulnerabilities to attacks and easily support demands from future applications," said Mark Whitt, information systems administrator for the City of Houston. "We are so pleased with the stability and administration features of the Infoblox devices that the city's entire web presence and internal name resolution are operating using the Infoblox appliances, and we're confident that our Internet and intranet initiatives will benefit from rock-solid DHCP services from the Infoblox appliances."
