City of Gaylord Partners With DigitalTown for Smart City

Deploying Comprehensive Solution for Online Economic Development

GAYLORD, MN, and SEATTLE, WA --(Marketwired - February 23, 2016) - The City of Gaylord, Minnesota and DigitalTown, Inc. (OTC PINK: DGTW) today announced the planned launch of a Smart City Platform to be operated in partnership with DigitalTown.

DigitalTown provides an integrated local platform for content, community, and commerce operating on both web and mobile devices. The DigitalTown platform changes how the local economy consumes, interacts, and transacts. It does this by helping community members to "See the World through local eyes." In addition to providing highly relevant local search on any topic, if there are local vendors that can fulfill a relevant product or service, then these options are presented to the user. Local merchants are able to register as merchants on the platform, effectively allowing the local town to be its own "Amazon."

The City Council of Gaylord unanimously approved DigitalTown's proposal at the City Council Meeting on February 17, 2016. Don Boeder, Mayor of the City of Gaylord, explained, "I am happy to see DigitalTown come on board with the City of Gaylord. With the upcoming introduction of the DigitalTown platform, and the installation of RS Fiber high speed internet, Gaylord and its businesses will soon be on the leading edge of online economic development."

"DigitalTown is delighted to partner with the City of Gaylord to deploy best of breed solutions for online economic development. In partnering with DigitalTown, City Management is demonstrating a bold vision for the future by equipping local merchants to win locally while empowering the online community of Gaylord to be as vibrant online as it is offline," explained Rob Monster, CEO of DigitalTown.

Under the agreement with the City, merchants operating within the city limits are able to register as a participating merchant without setup fees or service fees. The site will operate at the URL Gaylord.City. Merchants will have access to their stores starting April 4, 2016, and the new site is expected to be open to the public on April 25, 2016.
