City of South Amboy No Longer Under a Boil Water Notice

ISELIN, NJ -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 7, 2005 -- A boil water order is no longer in affect for residents of the City of South Amboy as of 1:00 p.m. today. Test results over a two-day period showed no evidence of harmful bacteria in the City's water supply. The boil water order was declared Tuesday, July 5, by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), as a precautionary measure, when a water main on South Broadway and Louisa Streets was damaged by a contractor digging in the area. Middlesex Water crews were able to restore service within a few hours and water pressure returned back to normal soon after that. Middlesex Water and the City of South Amboy advise customers that no further precautionary steps are necessary.
