City of San Jose and U.S. Department of Energy Introduce Green Vision Clean Energy Showcase
City Invites Clean Technology Companies to Join the Knowledge Hub for Clean Energy Education and Information and Further Engage Community Participation in San Jose's Green Vision
SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - December 8, 2010) - The City of San José and the U.S. Department of Energy announced today the opening of the San José Green Vision Clean Energy Showcase, an interactive new innovation center housing installations of cutting-edge clean energy technologies available on the market today and in the future.
Designed as a knowledge hub for clean energy education and awareness, the Showcase will give visitors hands-on experience with advanced solar, wind and energy efficiency technologies, provide information required to make informed decisions about clean energy options, and further community participation in San José's Green Vision.
"The Green Vision Clean Energy Showcase brings to life many of the cutting edge technologies that will drive our local economy and help create a greener, more-sustainable community," said San José Mayor Chuck Reed. "As a Solar America City and the home to the nation's top green technology incubators, we invite other clean energy companies to join the Showcase and share their innovations with the community."
The Showcase is organized by the City of San José Environmental Services Department, with the site provided by the San José Redevelopment Agency and site interconnection by PG&E. The project is funded through donations and a Department of Energy Solar Market Transformation Special Project grant through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Located on a highly visible site directly across the street from City Hall, the Showcase will advance key goals of San José's Green Vision as it looks to educate consumers about clean energy solutions, advance available resources for green collar workforce training, and provide vital training and education for San José's students.
The Showcase will be open to the public on Saturday, December 11 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM with a complimentary community open house. Free guided tours of the Showcase will be available to the public starting January 15, 2011. Visit energy.sanjoseca.gov for reservation information.
