Clark County, Nevada Public Works Department Adopts AccuSpeechMobile Voice Technology to Optimize Mobile Field Worker Productivity, Cut Costs

AccuSpeechMobile Voice-Powers Mobile "Right of Way" Inspections of County Assets and Utilities

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - September 11, 2008) - Vangard Voice Systems, Inc. today announced that the Clark County, Nevada Public Works Department has adopted its AccuSpeechMobile voice technology. The Public Works Department is using AccuSpeechMobile to improve field worker productivity, further enhance county operational efficiency and drive down county operational costs. AccuSpeechMobile is the only voice technology to quickly and easily add voice-directed data collection and voice-driven application command functions to existing enterprise mobile applications.

By replacing mobile keyboards and paper-based systems with hands-free, eyes-free, voice-powered data collection, Clark County is embracing a vision to dramatically improve mobile field inspector productivity, safety and data collection accuracy. The initial application is a voice-powered storm drain network field inspection.

The Public Works Department is responsible for all county assets and utilities that reside on the county right-of-ways. Once projected productivity gains are realized, the application will be adapted for inspection of other county assets, such as signalized intersections, sidewalks, signage, traffic medians and pavement conditioning.

"When we saw the broad base of voice capabilities AccuSpeechMobile provided, I could easily envision the productivity increases and cost savings that could be achieved by Clark County and its hardworking field employees," said James Houser, systems administrator for Clark County Public Works who has championed the cause for voice-driven productivity. "Now with our initial applications in the process of deployment, we're excited about the future improvements in worker productivity and reduced operational costs as AccuSpeechMobile is embraced by our public works divisions."

Productivity Gains Using AccuSpeechMobile

Significant productivity gains were projected when testing prototypes of County applications. An electronic pull box field inspection originally took 18 minutes to complete. Once voice-enabled with AccuSpeechMobile, the new voice-powered prototype inspection time dropped to less than 4 minutes. "With more than 24,000 pull boxes located across Clark County, we could easily project the productivity gains for our mobile inspectors and yearly cost savings for the county," said Houser.

"The power of voice-directed data collection is being underscored by the vision of public works professionals like Jim Houser and the Clark County team," said Bob Bova, president and chief executive officer, Vangard Voice Systems. "Public Works organizations, utility companies and utility service organizations everywhere can easily reduce their operating costs by empowering their field service workers with voice-powered field applications."
