CLC Wishes Jack Layton a Speedy Recovery

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 26, 2011) - CLC President Ken Georgetti has issued the following statement regarding the announcement by NDP Jack Layton that he is stepping aside temporarily for health related reasons:

I, like other Canadians, am saddened to hear that Jack Layton is suffering from a new cancer. Mr. Layton has decided to step aside temporarily as leader of the New Democratic in order to focus on reclaiming his health. On behalf of the 3.2 million members of the Canadian Labour Congress, I want to say that our thoughts are with Mr. Layton and his family. We wish him a speedy and complete recovery from his illness and look forward to working with him again in future.
