Clean Energy Fund to Benefit Made-In-Canada Renewable Fuels

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 20, 2009) - The Canadian Renewable Fuels Association today applauded Minister Lisa Raitt for the new $1 Billion Clean Energy Fund and the $200 million set aside for demonstration projects of renewable and alternative energy technologies.

"In these difficult times, renewable fuels offer new opportunity, new hope and new growth," said Gordon Quaiattini, President of the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association. "The $200 million set aside for smaller-scale demonstration projects of renewable and alternative energy technologies will help Canada take part in developing even better and more advanced renewable fuels that will help the environment and new investment in rural Canada."

The International Energy Agency recently published a report that made clear that grain ethanol enjoys a 55% advantage over traditional gasoline when it comes to reducing harmful GHG emissions.

Renewable fuels in Canada today, including current and planned projects - will create some 10,000 new jobs and generate $1.5 billion in new economic investment.
