CleanEdison Offers White House Free Energy Audit Before Solar Panel Installation

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - October 7, 2010) -  CleanEdison has submitted a proposal to the White House offering to perform a free energy audit prior to the re-installation of former President Carter's solar panels atop the executive mansion.

Nancy Sutley, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality and Steven Chu, Secretary of Energy, released plans to install solar photovoltaic panels and solar heating panels atop the White House. CleanEdison recognizes this is as a prime opportunity to demonstrate the importance and effectiveness of renewable energy.

An important concern when installing any renewable energy source is ensuring that the energy produced is used efficiently. The industry consensus is that improving the efficiency of a space is by far the best and least expensive way to decrease energy use and effectively utilize renewable energy sources. As an added benefit, home owners and businesses undertaking these retrofits are helping to jumpstart the ailing construction economy. The White House can take advantage of this opportunity by drawing attention to the benefits of efficiency retrofits and setting an example for the nation to follow.

CleanEdison, the nation's largest green building training provider, has offered the White House a free energy audit before and after the installation of the solar panels. Taking advantage of this offer will help the White House demonstrate to the public the proper way to go about leveraging renewable resources while decreasing the energy costs of America's building stock. By leading the nation towards more responsible and efficient building practices, the White House would be instrumental in promoting an industry poised to generate hundreds of thousands of new construction and manufacturing jobs -- areas of the economy that have been severely impacted by the recent economic downturn.

We strongly believe that efficient use of our nation's resources is the key to our economic and energy freedom.
