ClearStory Data Appoints Dr. Timothy Howes as Chief Technology Officer; Former Vice President of Yahoo, CTO of HP Software, Opsware, and Netscape

Dr. Howes, Co-Inventor of LDAP and Numerous Patents Joins ClearStory's Product Leadership Team to Spearhead Further Innovations on ClearStory's Spark-Based, Business-Consumable Data Analysis Platform

Howes, Ph.D. as the company's Chief Technology Officer. Timothy Howes is a well-known Silicon Valley entrepreneur and computer scientist who co-invented LDAP and was a former CTO of Netscape, Opsware and HP Software. Prior to ClearStory Data, Howes served as VP of Engineering at Yahoo, where he integrated a company he co-founded, Rockmelt, into Yahoo's Mobile and Emerging Products and led a 350-person development team focused on breakthroughs in mobile information consumption.

In addition to Howes' appointment as CTO, ClearStory Data has hired Ali Tore as new Chief Product Officer and Soumitro Tagore as Vice President of Engineering and Development Operations. Tore will lead execution of the company's near-term product roadmaps and run all product management and product marketing. Tore has more than 20 years of experience leading enterprise product development, and most recently co-founded and served as CPO and VP of Analytics at Model N, a leading provider of revenue management solutions that went public in 2013. Tagore will continue to lead ClearStory's development organization and development operations. He previously served as VP of Engineering at Clari, a startup that built applications sales-focused predictive analytics and mobile applications. Prior to Clari, he was the VP of Engineering and Support at Clearwell Systems, the recognized leader in electronic discovery software, where he helped grow the company to a $100 million run-rate before a $410 million acquisition by Symantec.

Dr. Howes is most well-known for co-inventing the Internet Directory standard LDAP while at the University of Michigan. Howes then joined Netscape as CTO of the Server Products Division and led LDAP and many technology innovations until Netscape's acquisition by AOL for $4.2 billion. Howes co-founded Rockmelt Inc., acquired by Yahoo, and co-founded Loudcloud, later re-branded to Opsware, with Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, now founding partners of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. Opsware Inc., with Dr. Howes as CTO, pioneered data center automation and was acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 2007 for $1.65 billion. Howes then served as CTO of HP's enterprise software business through 2008.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, a Master of Science in Computer Science and Engineering and a Ph.D. in Computer Science, all from the University of Michigan.
