ClearStory Data Appoints Micheline Casey, Former Chief Data Officer of the Federal Reserve Board, as Advisor

Prominent Data Industry Leader's 20 Years of Experience in Business-Critical Data Initiatives and Aligning Processes to Contribute to ClearStory's Growth

MENLO PARK, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 15, 2015) -  ClearStory Data, the company bringing business-oriented Data Intelligence to everyone, today announced it has appointed Micheline Casey to its advisory board. Casey most recently served as the first-ever Chief Data Officer for the Federal Reserve Board, the central bank of the United States, and the first Chief Data Officer for a state government in the U.S. An internationally recognized expert in using data for critical data-driven decisions, Casey has won several honors, including DC's Top 50 Women in Technology and Top 25 Information Managers from Information Management magazine. She brings deep experience in both the public and private sectors as a data industry innovator who is passionate about pushing the boundaries of data and technology to improve and transform business operations and create data-driven cultures.

As CDO of the Federal Reserve Board, Casey led enterprise data strategy and innovation for its new central data business unit, launched to improve information sharing and drive deeper insights across the Board. She oversaw data governance policy development, data engineering and architecture. Prior to that, she founded and led CDO, LLC, a consultancy that specialized in unleashing the value of data for private and public sector organizations and improving customer insights, product development and business operations.

In Casey's role as the first state CDO in the United States in Colorado from 2009 to 2011, she was responsible for developing and executing enterprise data strategy, data governance, and data management frameworks across the state's executive branch agencies. Earlier, as Colorado's director of identity management, she co-authored the identity, credentialing and access framework guidance used as a national model for all states, and served as a founding member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Technology Transition Working Group.

"There's now an explosion of valuable data and more computing power that opens up a world of new possibilities for organizations," said Casey. "Innovators that figure out how to capture and put that data to work quickly, expand its value to everyday business users, and break down data silos without compromising security or privacy can gain real competitive advantages in the marketplace. ClearStory's solution solves many hard problems facing organizations today, especially in terms of enabling really fast data analysis across many sources of data, without needing coding skills. From my experience as CDO at the Federal Reserve and the challenges we faced, ClearStory is a unique end-to-end solution that allows valuable data assets to be consumed quickly for business critical decisions and stands to disrupt the decades of traditional tools and processes."

"One of the many reasons we are excited to have Micheline as advisor is the deep knowledge of the data silo and data analysis challenges faced by highly regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, insurance and government," said Sharmila Mulligan, founder and CEO of ClearStory Data. "We'll benefit greatly from her data governance experience in pioneering new approaches and leading complex data management initiatives and business transformation for large organizations. Micheline will be working closely with us on future areas of product innovation and go-to-market strategies as we continue to capture a fast-growing market."

Casey has also served as senior director of identity management for ChoicePoint Government Services (now LexisNexis Risk Solutions) and held consulting positions in IBM Global Services and iXL, Holdings, Inc. She currently serves on the board of the Midwest Reliability Organization, which helps ensure the reliability and security of the electricity and energy power grid in portions of the Western U.S. and Canada.
