Clearwater Lodge at the Pit River Announces It Is California's Only Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge

Top Fly Fishing Destination Celebrates With Giveaway Promotion

FALL RIVER MILLS, CA--(Marketwire - February 9, 2010) - Clearwater Lodge at the Pit River, a historic, full-service fly fishing destination in northeastern California, announces it joins the Orvis Endorsed Lodge Program, making it the only lodge with this stamp of approval in California.

For more than two decades, Orvis, a respected leader in outdoor goods and services, has selected the best fly fishing operations and destinations in North America to include in its program. To celebrate this recognition, Clearwater Lodge at the Pit River is offering a complimentary ZG Helios fly rod by Orvis to guests booking four-night stays and three days of guided fishing.

The lodge is known as a top fly fishing destination with access to five of California's great wild trout rivers and spring-fed stillwaters. With its home waters encompassing 100 miles between Mount Lassen and Mount Shasta, the lodge offers a variety of fly fishing experiences for families, couples, individuals, and small groups.

The lodge has the most extensive fly fishing school in the West, offering multi-day fly fishing schools for all ability levels and guided fly fishing trips with knowledgeable guides. Guests can sign up for everything from an introduction to fly fishing, to nymphing, dry fly fishing, advanced sinking line, master fly fishing, and guiding. The school also has basic fly fishing classes tailored specifically for women, taught by women. Most schools at Clearwater Lodge at the Pit River run Wednesday to Sunday and include meals, accommodations, instruction and the use of tackle.

The lodge is surrounded by rich scenery and recreational opportunities. In addition to fly fishing, lodge guests can venture out for golf, hiking, biking and bird watching. Lava springs, historical Native American sites, the Pacific Crest Trail and waterfalls are among the nearby attractions.

Clearwater Lodge at the Pit River itself is a magnificent example of Arts and Crafts design. Built in 1921, it today boasts perfectly preserved original features including paneled walls and tall-beamed ceilings, copper and stained glass chandeliers illuminating the Great Room, and a massive stone fireplace with cozy inglenooks on either side. Ancient sycamore trees shade a wide porch spanning the entire front of the lodge. Lounge chairs dot the grounds out among the oaks and pines.

The lodge's main building offers seven bedrooms, each with a queen bed and private bath. The Annex houses six single bedrooms, two large shared baths and a spacious sitting room featuring a natural rock fireplace. Three individual cottages, set away from the lodge among the trees, provide one- and two-bedroom accommodations. Amenities include wireless Internet access and air conditioning. Rates start from $150 per person per night and include meals.

Clearwater Lodge at the Pit River offers a top-notch dining experience, featuring dishes such as wasabi and sesame crusted halibut filet with a ginger miso vin blanc or pepper-rubbed grilled lamb loin medallions with a fresh California bing cherry compote. It has its own private-label wines as well, grown, produced and bottled in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

The Orvis Helios special in celebration of the new Orvis endorsement is offered to guests booking four nights starting on a Sunday and three days of guided fishing. A 50-percent nonrefundable deposit is due at time of booking. Upon confirmed booking, guests may choose their ZG Helios fly rod, which will be shipped directly from Orvis. The ZG Helios fly rod series is valued at up to $850 and was named "Best of the Best" for 2008 by Field & Stream Magazine. The offer must be booked by June 1, 2010, for travel through the 2010 season. Interested guests may call (888) 600-5451, ask for Marisa and request the Free Orvis Helios Special.
