Cleco Corp. Names Wade A. Hoefling Senior Vice President, General Counsel

PINEVILLE, LA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 29, 2007 --Cleco Corp. (NYSE: CNL) has named Wade A. Hoefling senior vice president and general counsel.

The board of directors approved Hoefling's appointment at its Jan. 26 meeting. In addition to senior vice president and general counsel, Hoefling will serve as director of regulatory compliance. He also will oversee Cleco's ethics and compliance functions.

Hoefling, 51, comes to Cleco with more than 25 years of legal experience in the energy business. He most recently served as general counsel for Northeast Utilities Enterprises Inc., a subsidiary housing the energy marketing, merchant generation and energy services businesses of parent company Northeast Utilities.

Prior to that, he served as vice president and general counsel, energy trading at Reliant Resources, Inc. and as senior vice president and general counsel at Duke Energy Trading and Marketing, L.L.C.

Hoefling holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard College and a juris doctorate from Harvard Law School, Cambridge, Mass. He is a member of the Texas Bar Association and the Oklahoma Bar Association.
