Climate Change and Emissions Management (CCEMC) Corporation Releases First Annual Report

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Dec. 23, 2010) - The Climate Change and Emissions Management Corporation released its first annual report today.

"We are pleased with all we have accomplished in our first full year of operation," said CCEMC Chair Eric Newell. "The Board is enthusiastic and energized by the range and quality of project proposals that we received. We look forward to continuing to support Alberta's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and advance clean technology."

Accomplishments included in the report include:

  • Establishing the board, management processes, policies and procedures.
  • Announcing plans to support 16 projects with more than $71 million. The report profiles the projects being funded, which cover renewable energy, energy efficiency, cleaner energy production and carbon capture and storage. Charts break down funding by sector, technology development stage and portfolio balance.
  • Commissioning a report from the Conference Board of Canada on Climate Related Technology Funds. Among other things, the report identifies that Alberta is spending more than all other provinces combined in climate-related technology investments, with total identified spending at $6.1 billion over the next five years.

"We look forward to another exciting year," said CCEMC Chair Eric Newell. "The CCEMC is reviewing projects for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects and we will be announcing funding for more projects in the first quarter of 2011."
