Clinical ChartBook™ for iDental and iMedical Announced

LINCOLN, NE -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 12, 2007 -- Michael Edwards, CEO of HealthWare Corporation and founder of HealthCare Communications, the original developer of DentalMac, MediMac and ChiroMac, today introduced Clinical ChartBook software for iDental and iMedical. Clinical ChartBook, created by Troy Spracklin, President of HealthWare Systems Canada, harnesses the power of Mage Software's Inking Toolkit, and is the most flexible charting software available anywhere. For the provider, it is truly "your charts, your way."

Clinical ChartBook is a unique Mac-based replacement for paper charts of all kinds, and works with the Cintiq, DTF, and DTZ series of pen-enabled displays from Wacom Technology Corporation, and the new ModBook from Axiotron, the only Mac tablet in existence. Clinical ChartBook is the first Mac healthcare software of its kind to work with pen-enabled displays and Inkwell from Apple.

Clinical ChartBook works with graphic chart materials of the provider's choice, and includes the ability to drag and drop any image into its edit window. Dentists can do tooth charting, physicians can work with anatomical displays, and chiropractors can chart with spinal images or x-rays. All of these images can be converted to templates for future use. Virtually any image can be charted, and the completed chart is stored in the Clinical Notes view of iDental and iMedical.

In addition to charting, Clinical ChartBook can be used for patient education and treatment planning, leading to greater patient acceptance of proposed procedures. For example, a dentist can load a patient's digital x-ray and edit the image with the patient, so that they are better aware of treatment needed. A surgeon can work with a template of an organ, showing how a surgical procedure will be performed. The chart is then saved to the patient file, for enhanced medico-legal compliance and provider protection.

The key to Clinical ChartBook is the combination of its proprietary software and Inkwell from OS X, Apple's handwriting recognition engine that allows you to write your notes directly on the screen and spotlight search through those notes later. Handwritten notes and numbers are recognized and converted to text on-screen on the chart. That text is then searchable in Clinical ChartBook and with Spotlight, for instant access. This is the reason that Clinical ChartBook is "your charts, your way."

Clinical ChartBook was demonstrated at the Pacific Dental Conference in Vancouver, B.C., from March 8-9thth. HealthWare Corporation is an approved distributor of ModBook in the U.S. and HealthWare Systems Canada is the exclusive distributor of ModBook in Canada.
