Clinical Neurology Specialists Receives Exemplary Lab Accreditation Rating From AANEM

Clinical Neurology Specialists Has Just Been Awarded an AANEM "Exemplary" Accreditation for Its Neuromuscular Diagnostic Laboratory

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwired - May 22, 2015) - The Electrodiagnostics Lab operated by Dr. Leo Germin's Clinical Neurology Specialists has received the highest possible Laboratory Accreditation status from the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM). Dr. Germin, who is Board Certified by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM) and two other professional societies, also serves as this EDX laboratory's medical director.

"I am proud to receive such a high accreditation rating from AANEM Laboratory," Dr. Germin explained. "My multi-disciplinary team of clinical professionals and I have worked long and hard to create the most effective possible neurology lab. It is on their behalf I am very happy to receive this recognition from my professional society, AANEM.

"At CNS, we strive to provide each of our patients with compassionate, professional care -- from our initial diagnosis work-up to our completion of their treatment," Dr. Germin pointed out. "We provide the highest level of advanced-technology diagnostic care, which ensures that our treatments will also be state-of-the-art -- literally, we provide all of our patients with the most accurate and effective neurological treatments available.

"This Exemplary accreditation of our lab represents confirmation of our commitment to outstanding patient care services, from start to finish," Dr. Germin concluded.

According to the latest figures available, there are currently 16,366 neurologists in active practice. Of these, an estimated 10 percent are board certified by at least one professional society -- roughly 1,650 doctors in total. Dr. Germin is board certified by three professional societies in three different aspects of neurology care.

According to the accrediting organization -- AANEM, the Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic professional society -- this recognition of Clinical Neurology Specialists positions CNS among the most highly-regarded neurological labs in the United States. This professional organization established laboratory accreditation criteria -- in the field of electrodiagnostic laboratories -- to help ensure that neurological patients receive high quality medical care in a safe environment.

An "Exemplary" laboratory accreditation provides patients, referral sources, and payers with a credible measure that can be used to differentiate the CNS EDX Laboratory's quality of care from other, non-accredited labs.

The accreditation standards which are used to evaluate the level of diagnostic services and clinical operations essential to providing quality patient care include:

  • Clinical staff qualifications and continuing education

  • Physical facilities

  • EDX equipment

  • Protocols for performing EDX studies

  • Patient reports

  • Policies for ensuring the health and safety of every patient

Exemplary Status is the highest level of accreditation an EDX laboratory can achieve under the AANEM Accreditation Program. To be awarded Exemplary Status, physicians performing studies in the laboratory must:

  • Have completed a neurology or physical medicine and rehabilitation residency program; and

  • Have completed a minimum of three months of training in EDX medicine as part of a residency or fellowship program; and

  • Be certified by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM), or by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in clinical neurophysiology, or by the ABPN/American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in neuromuscular disease.

Receiving this Exemplary Accreditation is documentation of the quality of the physical facilities and technology, as well as the level of professional standing Dr. Germin has earned among his peers.

About Clinical Neurology Specialists
Clinical Neurology Specialists, with offices on Horizon Ridge in Henderson and West Flamingo in Las Vegas, is built around a passion for high-quality patient care. Research and teaching, coupled with the use of beyond-cutting-edge technology -- helps to define CNS's Medical Director, Dr. Leo Germin.

Under Dr. Germin's leadership, CNS has -- for nearly two decades, provided professional and compassionate up-to-date care, as well as offering prevention services and education for our patients and their families, as well as for referring physicians and other healthcare professionals. Dr. Leo Germin is a graduate of the oldest university in Europe. He is currently board certified by three medical professional societies, as well as being certified by two other societies.

Dr. Germin's practice provides cutting-edge diagnostics of neurological disorders and diseases, as well as exemplary patient-centered care. This care includes -- through his affiliation with the Hyperbaric Institute of Nevada -- the only outpatient hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments available at a neurology practice in Nevada, along with sophisticated brain-mapping technology to help identify medical problems or injuries within the brain itself.

Most recently, CNS has added a highly-sophisticated brain-mapping technology, the "Brain Avatar," which allows for a non-invasive look into the functioning of the brain. This remarkable scientific diagnostic tool can identify traumatic brain injuries (TBI) that have not healed, as well as current levels of brain functioning. The technology focuses on functional problems that are not easily diagnosed by other means.

This Brain Avatar tool, which creates a real-time 3-D graphic visual of the brain as it functions, is the next generation beyond the traditional EEG -- Electro-Encephalogram -- that only monitors brain activity.

About Leo Germin, MD

One of the most highly-regarded neurologists in the Las Vegas Valley, this native of Lithuania left Eastern Europe with his family more than 25 years ago.

Upon his arrival in the US, Dr. Germin not only demonstrated his professional excellence, he became triple board certified -- proving that he was among the best of the best in three aspects of neurology. Presently, Dr. Germin is Board Certified in Neurology and Psychiatry, in Vascular Neurology and in Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. In addition, he is certified in Neuroimaging and Neurosonology, and he is a Fellow in the American Academy of Neuromuscular& Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Along with these impressive credentials, Dr. Germin is dedicated to providing -- by example -- leadership in guiding the next generation of physicians as they learn about neurology. At any given moment, he has a dozen medical students, graduates from local and17 international medical schools, working directly under him, learning their new profession as he diagnoses and heals his patients. He also serves as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Touro University in Henderson.

In addition to his own practice, Dr. Leo Germin serves as Medical Director for the Hyperbaric Institute of Nevada (www.hinevada.com). In this role, and because of his extensive research into the benefits of hyperbaric medicine, Dr. Germin is a life member of the International Congress on Hyperbaric Medicine. He and several colleagues also hold patents in Hyperbaric Medicine, based on extensive research and hands-on experience with this remarkably versatile treatment modality. Last February, Hyperbaric Institute of Nevada celebrated its 7th Anniversary of service to Henderson and the Las Vegas Valley.

Dr. Germin also serves as Medical Director for Innovative Detox (www.innovativedetox.com), a new kind of drug- and alcohol detox program which uses a sophisticated medical approach to overcome addiction, while the patient is under anesthesia, in just about four hours.
