CLINICARE Installs IT Solution- The Winnipeg Clinic

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 12, 2006) - CLINICARE Corporation of Calgary announces the latest addition to its Canadian customer base, The Winnipeg Clinic in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Winnipeg Clinic, owned and operated by 55 physicians, is one of the largest multi-specialty clinics in Canada and offers a wide range of diagnostic facilities and health related services to its patients.

CLINICARE is upgrading the clinic's practice management applications (patient scheduling and billing software) and installing Electronic Medical Records (EMR). The new practice management applications are up and running and the first group of physicians have commenced using the EMR system for all their patient encounters.

The physicians and staff at the Winnipeg Clinic decided unanimously to introduce an electronic medical record. They were becoming increasingly frustrated and stressed by the clinic's antiquated and inefficient paper medical records system, suggests Winnipeg family physician Dr. Felix Sikora. The clinic currently stores up to 600,000 paper charts on an entire floor of its 12 story building. "The return on investment from the transition to electronic charts will not only be monetary, but will include improved quality of care for patients and quality of life for physicians and staff," added Dr. Sikora.

"We chose CLINICARE to implement the electronic medical record for a number of reasons," says The Winnipeg Clinic CEO Tom Malone. "First of all was our past experience... we've had CLINICARE's billing and scheduling system for many years. We like the support from CLINICARE and the longevity of the company... over 20 years. When you come to the Annual Users' Conferences you know CLINICARE is going to be around for a lot longer... I am amazed by the input that the users and physicians have in terms of the direction the software is going. Also, there are other systems that look good when you first look at them, but if you look at them more closely, they don't do all the things that CLINICARE does."

"We have to become more efficient and more effective in terms of the investment we're making," explains Malone. "In the end, we will deliver much better quality patient care. That's what we're in the business of doing."

"As in any business relationship, we're going to be in a marriage with CLINICARE," he points out. "You have to trust whoever you're in a partnership with, and I trust CLINICARE fully... CLINICARE has a lot of happy clients... I not only trust them when negotiating a quote but I also trust them to deliver on that quote, provide the training, implement the system, and deliver ongoing support services - support is critical."

"We are delighted that The Winnipeg Clinic has chosen to install CLINICARE's EMR in their large facility and are happy to report that implementation is on schedule and under budget," says Dennis Niebergal, President and CEO of CLINICARE. "Many physicians typically enter the computer age kicking and screaming. These 55 doctors and their staff are enjoying excellent training and are making the transition from paper charts to EMR relatively easily."
