Closed Area for Shellfish Harvesting Upper North Shore


QUÉBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - June 1, 2015) - Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Quebec Region, wants to inform the Upper North Shore population that the harvesting of shellfish is now forbidden due to pollution and toxicity, in accordance with the prohibition order mentioned below, and pursuant to subsection 3(1) of the Management of Contaminated Fisheries Regulations, in the following shellfish areas:

Sites from Upper North Shore MRC:

Batture à Théophile (Batture de Bon-Désir) (N-01.2.2)

From John's point to a point on the shore 1.35 km west from cayes de Bon-Désir.

Baie des Chevaux (N-04.1.1.1)

From the Pointe Rocheuse's lighthouse to a point west of Rivière Laval's fairway.

Îlets Jérémie (N-04.5.2)

From a point located west of Baie des Îlets Jérémie to Pointe à Michel's navigation light.

Sites from Manicouagan MRC:

Pointe-aux-Outardes (west) (N-06.1.1)

From the Centre d'interprétation du Parc Nature to the east at the Fisheries and Oceans marker.

Pointe Paradis (N-06.3)

From pointe Paradis to coulée Père-Babel.
