CLUB DE GOLF ASBESTOS TO HOST FUTURE LINKS QUEBEC CHAMPIONSHIP

Nicolas Archambault and Michaël Bélanger headline field of champions Attention: Sports Editor, Travel/Tourism Editor ASBESTOS--(CCNMatthews - July 8, 2005) - Many of Canada's top junior golfers will be gathering at the Club de golf Asbestos, in Asbestos, Que. to compete in the BMO Financial Group Future Links Quebec Championship from July 10-13, conducted by the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA).

The fourth of six regional BMO Financial Group Future Links Championships, the 2005 Quebec Championship features 84 of the country's best junior male and female golfers in a three-day, 54-hole stroke play competition.

Young golfers from Quebec and Ontario will compete in four categories: Junior Boys (14-18 years), Junior Girls (14-18 years), Bantam Boys (11-13 years) and Bantam Girls (11-13 years).

"We are excited that club de golf Asbestos will be hosting the Future Links Quebec Championship," said Adam LeBrun, RCGA Tournament Director. "The course layout is challenging and should prove to be an excellent test for some of our top juniors."

Now in its sixth year, the BMO Financial Group Future Links Championships have established a reputation as the premier junior golf circuit in Canada. With more than 500 participants in six regional championships, Future Links continues to raise the bar for junior golf nationwide.

-- Leading the way at Club de golf Asbestos is Nicolas Archambault of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que. who is coming off a fourth place finish and an impressive final-round score of 66 at the 2005 Future Links Prairie. Other favourites include two-time Bantam champion Julien Proulx of who finished tied for ninth at last years Future Links Quebec, along with Michaël Bélanger of Sorel-Tracy, Que. who finished tied for sixth at last years Future Links Quebec and ninth at the prestigious 2004 Canadian Junior Boys Championship. Joining the Junior ranks is 2004 Bantam Boys champion Louis-Alexandre Dumas of Cap-Rouge, Que.

-- The Junior Boys will also aspire to gain an exemption into the 2005 Canadian Junior Boys Championship and collect points toward the BMO Financial Group Junior Order of Merit, Canada's national ranking system for boys.

-- In the Junior Girls division, several notables lead the way. July Fraser tied for third at last years Future Links Quebec while Noémy Roux of St-Jean-Sur Richelieu, Que. came in eigth and Valerie Deslandes of Varennes, Que. followed closely behind in ninth. Anne-Catherine Tanguay of Sainte-Foy, Que. joins the Junior Girls division after finishing second in the 2004 Future Links Quebec Bantam Girls division.
