Club de Motoneigistes Lac St-Jean Acquires a New Snow Grooming Machine

Government of Canada supports winter tourism in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean


ALMA, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Dec. 18, 2014) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the Club de motoneigistes Lac St-Jean has been granted funding to purchase a new grooming machine and delimbing equipment.

This assistance has been awarded in the form of a $123,710 non-repayable financial contribution through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

  • Club de motoneigistes Lac St-Jean is responsible for maintaining 500 kilometres of snowmobile trails in the Regional County Municipality (RCM) of Lac Saint-Jean Est, 254 kilometres of which are part of the Trans-Québec network.
  • Most notably, the Club is responsible for maintaining 23 Trail which connects the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region to the Québec region, a major gateway to the region.
  • The new higher-performance grooming machine will enable the organization to ensure the sustainability and quality of three strategic trails, high tourist traffic areas, which will generate economic spinoffs for SMEs along these trails and for accommodation and food and beverage establishments throughout the region.
