Government of Canada supports winter tourism in Bas-Saint-Laurent


POHÉNÉGAMOOK, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - March 8, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that Club les Explorateurs Pohénégamook Inc. received financial assistance for the acquisition of a new snow grooming machine.

This support was awarded in the form of a $107,800 non-repayable financial contribution through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program.

  • The snowmobile club used this funding to purchase a new, higher-performance snow grooming machine.
  • This project will help ensure the sustainability of a portion of the network of snowmobile trails in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region and encourage winter tourism, a source of positive economic spinoffs for the Témiscouata RCM.
