CMA/CNA/CHA/HEAL/Media Advisory-The Health Accord: One Year After

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 13, 2005) - On Thursday, September 15, representatives from the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), the Canadian Healthcare Association (CHA) and the Health Action Lobby (HEAL) will present a "state-of-the-union" examination of the first year of the historic 10-Year Plan to Strengthen Health Care signed by Canada's First Ministers last September.

The presidents of the national organizations representing doctors, nurses, health system managers and trustees and health and consumer associations will weigh in on what has worked so far and what needs to be done. The event will also include the release of new poll by Ipsos-Reid asking Canadians about the future of health care services and whether they believe that the commitments agreed to by First Ministers will yield results in their communities.

Speaking at the event will be Dr. Ruth Collins-Nakai (CMA), Dr. Deborah Tamlyn (CNA), Sharon Sholzberg-Gray (CHA) and Pamela Fralick (HEAL).
