CMPP Accredited Staff Continues to Grow at SCI Scientific Communications & Information


PARSIPPANY, NJ--(Marketwire - Nov 30, 2011) - SCI Scientific Communications & Information (www.scicominfo.org) announced 80% of its publication management group is now certified by the International Society of Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) as Certified Medical Publication Professionals (CMPPs). This is SCI Scientific Communications & Information's second set of employees to meet the ISMPP's requirements, with the first group passing the exam in May 2010. By early next year, it is estimated that 100% of the team will be certified.

ISMPP (www.ismpp.org), established in 2005, is the only not-for-profit organization founded by medical publication professionals for medical publication professionals. ISMPP has implemented a certification program offering publication professionals the opportunity to apply for a Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) credential, which reflects expertise as a medical publication professional, proficiency in good publication practices, commitment to ethical and transparent data dissemination standards, and leadership in upholding and fostering integrity and excellence in medical publication.

To achieve certification, candidates must pass a 150-item, multiple-choice, computer-based examination and meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university or an equivalent educational degree as determined by ISMPP, and
  • Four thousand hours of active, verifiable employment predominantly involving strategic publication plan development, tactical publication plan development, and/or publication plan implementation.

OR

  • High school diploma, or an equivalent, completed educational course of study, as determined by ISMPP, and
  • Ten thousand hours of active, verifiable employment predominantly involving strategic publication plan development, tactical publication plan development, and/or publication plan implementation.
