CN Canadian Women's Open raises $1 million for the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario Foundation

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 17, 2008) - CN (TSX:CNR)(NYSE:CNI) announced today that the CN Canadian Women's Open raised $1 million for the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Foundation through the CN Miracle Match program. The announcement was made at a special presentation at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, host of the 2008 CN Canadian Women's Open.

"CN is very proud of this year's record-setting results from the CN Miracle Match program for the CHEO Foundation," said E. Hunter Harrison, CN's president and chief executive officer. "The people of Ottawa have been excellent hosts for the 2008 CN Canadian Women's Open, and the fact we were able to raise $1 million is a testament to their generosity."

At CN, we are deeply committed to the strength of our communities by ensuring the health and safety of our youth. Over the past three years, the CN Miracle Match has raised close to $2 million for children's hospitals in Canada," continued Mr. Harrison. "We look forward to continuing this community investment tradition next year when the CN Canadian Women's Open will be held at Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club in Calgary, Alberta."

The CN Miracle Match is designed to rally communities across Canada to support children's hospitals. Each year since 2006, CN has raised funds to support a children's hospital by matching funds raised through various initiatives that are connected with the CN Canadian Women's Open.

"We are absolutely thrilled with the results of the CN Miracle Match program, and are humbled by the generosity of all those that contributed to CHEO through the CN Canadian Women's Open," said CHEO Foundation President and CEO, Fred Bartlett. "CN has been an outstanding partner for CHEO and the success of this campaign demonstrates their leadership in supporting the well being of our children in our communities."

The CHEO Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to furthering the physical, mental and social well being of children and their families in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec by raising, managing and disbursing funds to the CHEO centre. The CHEO is a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Ottawa, and conducts world-renowned research activities focused on new advances in care and the development of a comprehensive health system for children and youth.

The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario is committed to making a difference in the lives of children, youth and families. As was the case when CHEO opened more than three decades ago, children and youth continue to require dedicated and specialized pediatric health services. CHEO has an established and excellent team of highly qualified personnel, first class treatment, as well as world-renowned research activities to meet the needs of its young patients.
