CN donates $250,000 to Children's Hospital of Western Ontario and thanks London for its great hospitality

LONDON, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 13, 2006) - CN today presented a $250,000 cheque to Children's Hospital of Western Ontario at London Health Sciences Centre at the CN Canadian Women's Open. E. Hunter Harrison, CN president and chief executive officer, presented the cheque to Debbie Comuzzi, president and chief executive officer of the Children's Health Foundation.

"CN's title sponsorship of this tournament is about more than great golf and hosting a terrific event," said Harrison. "It's also about raising money for children's charities. This donation is our way of giving something back to a community that has welcomed us with open arms."

Comuzzi said: "It has been a very exciting time since the Royal Canadian Golf Association announced CN as the title sponsor of the Canadian Women's Open. CN's commitment to the tournament was obvious, but it is deeply gratifying to us - and to our community - that CN committed itself so strongly to the health and well-being of the children of our region by making such a generous donation to Children's Hospital of Western Ontario. It is indeed testament to CN's corporate philosophy of building safe, strong communities. On behalf of Children's Hospital and the children and families served at our hospital, our heartfelt thank you."

Harrison said that everyone was a winner at the tournament. "While there is only one winner of the 2006 CN Canadian Women's Open trophy, there are many winners here today, including the golfers, the fans, and the people of London. The biggest winners, however, are the children at Children's Hospital."

In May, CN committed a minimum $100,000 donation to the hospital. This week, CN added to the tally with the CN Miracle Match program by matching dollar for dollar funds raised for Children's Hospital during the tournament. This brought CN's total donation up to $250,000.

CN has a long-time commitment to help build safer, stronger communities where its trains operate. This practice of supporting a children's charity will be repeated at future CN Canadian Women's Opens.
