Co-op Services Credit Union Helps Finance a Dad's Dream for His Daughter

LIVONIA, MI -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 5, 2005 -- Co-op Services Credit Union regularly loans money to members. After all, it's what their business is about. With a personal line of credit, the money may be used for a variety of needs that only the member knows. In the case of member James Dodd, he returned to the credit union's Dearborn branch to express his appreciation and to share what a loan had made possible -- his daughter's vocal music CD.

"My daughter Gayle is an aspiring singer and songwriter," explained Dodd, chief engineer for ABM at Regent Court in Dearborn. "At an audition in Los Angeles, we learned she needed a professional-quality CD produced to help break into the industry. Of course, it was going to cost several thousand dollars that my 20-year-old didn't have."

Dodd, also a musician, decided to borrow the money from his Gold Line of Credit at the credit union's Dearborn branch.

"I've been a member of Co-op Services for more than 20 years," said Dodd. "Their people are always very friendly and very informed, and I've borrowed from them several times over the years. They're very easy to work with."

Gayle Dodd, who goes by the singing name of "Roxy," was able to have a professional CD produced by Mike Bush at The Track Shack in Nashville. Titled "Walking Disaster," the CD includes ten songs written by Gayle.

It was one of these CDs that Dodd and his daughter proudly delivered on a recent visit to Tracy Wilson, the credit union's assistant branch manager in Dearborn.

"It was such a nice gesture," said Wilson. "It's nice to know that we could help the Dodds make their dream come true, and it's a great CD."

The pop/rock CD is currently on sale in local music stores, and the Dodds are looking forward to more trips to Nashville.

The credit union is so impressed with "Roxy" that they're asking her to sing at their annual meeting in March -- that is, if Nashville doesn't call first.
