Science Alberta Foundation (SAF) is pleased to announce that its newest online educational game, CO2 Connection, is now available as an iPad and iPhone application. The game, aimed at teaching children about CO2 capture and storage, is currently available for download free of charge on iTunes.

"The goal for CO2 Connection is to create an innovative way for children to learn about the role that science plays in their everyday lives, particularly in relation to environmental issues facing our province," said Dr. Arlene Ponting, CEO of Science Alberta Foundation. "Having games available for free as an iPhone or iPad application, enables children to learn about science, anywhere, anytime. The game provides a fun and engaging way for children to discover the exciting world of science, which in turn, develops life-long learners and creates positive attitudes towards science."

CO2 Connection is set in the province of Alberta. It is a 10 level game where children can help Kelvin, the star of the game, as he embarks on the noble task of reducing Alberta's carbon footprint. Joined by his trusty companion Celsius, Kelvin travels the province gathering resources, building pipelines and bridges and storing carbon dioxide.

Enhance Energy, an organization specializing in enhanced oil recovery and the storage of carbon emissions, has partnered with SAF to assist in their science education initiatives. "SAF has done an incredible job of stimulating and educating children about the field of science in order to help build strong leaders for the future. As environmental issues become increasingly significant, our industry is in need of leaders that will balance the importance of both economic prosperity and environmental sustainability," said Susan Cole, President of Enhance Energy. "SAF takes complex issues such as CO2 capture and storage, and simplifies them in ways that children can understand. Such is the case with the game, CO2 Connection."

CO2 Connection is one of six Kelvin Adventures game series on SAF's popular website The website hosts numerous games and activities to engage children in science. For more information on CO2 Connection, please watch the trailer or visit
