Coal Association of Canada Names New President

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Sept. 7, 2011) - Mr. Robert Stan, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Coal Association of Canada, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Ann Marie Hann to the role of President of the Association, effective September 6, 2011.

As President of the Coal Association of Canada, Ann Marie will be accountable for the overall performance of the Association and in addressing the needs of its members. She will provide overall direction and guidance in the ongoing development and implementation of the Association's programs and services.

After earning an MBA from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1983, Ann Marie Hann pursued a highly successful career, culminating in appointments in the Newfoundland Government as Deputy Minister of Environment and Labour and CEO of the Workers' Compensation Board. She was twice named one of the top 50 CEO's in Atlantic Canada, was awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for exemplary public service, and was the first woman elected president of the Association of Workers' Compensation Boards of Canada. She moved to Calgary, Alberta in September, 2006 to take the helm of the Propane Gas Association of Canada, a position she held until March 31 of this year.

In announcing the appointment, Mr. Stan noted that "Ann Marie's extensive leadership experience and her record of working successfully with government and industry will be invaluable in her mandate to promote the coal industry and foster productive relationships with industry members, government stakeholders and other partners."

A primary responsibility will be to ensure that Canadians and governments fully understand the very valuable contribution coal makes to both Canadian and global economies."

Ms. Hann replaces Mr. Allen Wright who is retiring after 10 years as the Association's President. Mr. Stan commented, "The Board and the Coal Association members thank Allen for his contributions over the past decade". Ann Marie will be introduced to the membership at the Canadian Conference on Coal September 24th-27th in Vancouver B.C.
