Coast Capital Savings' 2009 Directors Election Under Way

SURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - March 27, 2009) - Capital Savings members are casting their votes March 27 to April 15 in the 2009 directors election to fill three vacancies on the credit union's board.

Six candidates are standing in this year's elections. Incumbents Dan Burns, entrepreneur and lawyer, and Karen Kesteloo, a partner with Kesteloo Busse Anderson, Certified General Accountants, are recommended by Coast Capital Savings' Nominations Committee, along with Christian Findlay, former senior vice president, strategy and performance management with RBC Financial Group.

The other candidates are Rajinder Sahota, an attorney with Velletta & Company, Partap Singh, former programmer, numerical control with UBC, and Elizabeth Woods, writer and former board director.

"As part of the credit union's democratic process, the annual directors election is an opportunity for Coast Capital Savings members to have their say in guiding their credit union's direction and future success," said Glenn Wong, chair of the Coast Capital Savings' Nominations Committee. Wong emphasized that the experience and expertise of board members is critical because they play an integral role in Coast Capital Savings' strategic direction, policies, and operations by providing strong leadership and solid corporate governance.

Voting packages for the election have been mailed to all eligible voting members. Completed ballots must be received at a Coast Capital Savings branch or administration office by the close of business on Wednesday, April 15, 2009.

Results of the election will be announced on the evening of Wednesday, April 29 at Coast Capital Savings' Annual General Meeting in Victoria, which begins at 5 pm and will be available via webcast on Following the AGM, the election results will be posted on Coast Capital Savings website and displayed in all branches.
