Coast Mountain Power Corp. Awards Survey Contract

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 18, 2005) - Cliff Grandison, President of Coast Mountain Power Corp. (TSX VENTURE:MW), announced that the company awarded a contract to Allnorth Consultants Limited to conduct a centerline survey of the proposed Forrest Kerr/Meziadin transmission line.

The survey will layout in the field the transmission line design completed by BC Hydro Engineering Services for Coast Mountain. In addition to the centerline survey, the work will establish the location of individual power poles, highway and stream crossings and clearances. The survey will take approximately two months to complete, weather permitting.

The 178km 138kV Meziadin/Forrest Kerr transmission line which follows the Highway 37 corridor, links the Forrest Kerr Project to the main BC Hydro grid. The transmission line has been designed to transfer up to 200 MW of power in both directions and will have the ability to transfer 240 MW at its maximum capacity.

Coast Mountain Power Corp. has received expressions of interest to supply power to potential clients along the Meziadin/Forrest Kerr transmission line and its recently formed subsidiary Coast Mountain Transmission Corp. is evaluating potential demand for wheeling BC Hydro power to BC's northwest.
