Coaxsys, Inc. Announces 20th Telco Customer: Panhandle Telephone to Use TVnet Technology to Deliver IPTV

In Lieu of Rewiring Homes, Telco Delivers Voice, Video, and Data "Triple Play" Over Existing In-Home Coaxial Wiring by Utilizing Proprietary Coaxsys Technology

LOS GATOS, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 14, 2005 -- Coaxsys Incorporated, the leader in delivering customer premise networking over existing wires, today announced that it has reached the 20th telco customer milestone after only a few months of product deployment. Panhandle Telephone will be using the Coaxsys TVnet standard to deploy Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) to its video subscribers in northwest Oklahoma.

Coaxsys' proprietary TVnet technology instantly transforms a home's existing coaxial cable infrastructure into a high-speed, IPTV-ready digital entertainment network. TVnet is the only alternative available to costly Cat-5 Ethernet rewiring; its lower cost and simple plug-and-play installation enable telcos to more rapidly and inexpensively deliver IPTV over existing coaxial wiring.

Panhandle Telephone has been serving Oklahoma's panhandle region for over fifty years. From its beginnings as a local telephone service provider, Panhandle has expanded its services to meet increasing customer demands. It offers an extensive range of services -- residential and business telephone, long distance, wireless phone service, messaging, dial-up and high-speed Internet access, and television -- to its more than 14,000 subscribers. Now, with the help of Coaxsys TVnet technology, Panhandle will be able to utilize existing coaxial wiring to deliver IPTV services and complete its "triple play" of voice, video, and data.

"Our mission is to provide state-of-the-market technologies to meet our customers' growing needs," said Panhandle CEO Ron Strecker. "We have been clamoring for a cost-effective way to deliver IPTV over existing wires. Coaxsys' TVnet is the only product that has actually worked without complications, and we are ecstatic to be able to offer our customers IPTV without a lengthy and costly home rewire."

Coaxsys VP of Sales Gregory Boe commented, "Panhandle Telephone has rapidly acted to offer new technologies, and its deployment of IPTV is among the first in the U.S. By utilizing our TVnet product, Panhandle will be able to compete with cable companies by offering video and enhanced Internet applications -- cutting the installation time from over three hours to less than 30 minutes per home with fewer in-home modifications. Overnight, Panhandle can leverage existing in-home coaxial cable to transform homes into digital entertainment networks."

Coaxsys TVnet adapters are the only available IPTV alternative to rewiring homes with Cat-5 Ethernet. Once connected to the video or broadband source, TVnet transforms the entire home's coaxial cable into a series of network-enabled coax jacks. TVnet adapters can then be connected to any network-enabled device in order to provide Internet access, share peripherals, or stream high quality, digital audio and video (including multi-channel and HDTV).

TVnet delivers up to 104 Mbps transfer rate and supports distances up to 250 feet. TVnet is also compatible with TV splitters and supports Ethernet unicast, multicast, and broadcast.
