'Cob Mob' Line Dance Kicks Off Harvest Food Bank Drive With Music Video Filming at Pumpkin Fest Opening Sept 27th

Prairie Gardens' 19th Annual Haunted Pumpkin Festival

BON ACCORD, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Sept. 23, 2014) - To kick off the 19th Annual Haunted Pumpkin Festival, Prairie Gardens & Adventure Farm, in partnership with Canada Post - Edmonton, and emerging music artists, Stone Iris, invite Albertans to plunge feet first into the most festive fall harvest event ever imagined, a huge corn field "Cob Mob" line dancing adventure, with music video filming for Stone Iris's new single, "When in Roam", in support of the Harvest Food Drive for Edmonton's Food Bank on Saturday, September 27, from 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm.

Stone Iris has an open call out to all Line Dancers, to drive out and dance at the grand opening of the Haunted Pumpkin Fest to support the Harvest Food Bank Drive by bringing a non-perishable food bank donation. "Canada Post is proud to assist in the collection of donations for the Stone Iris Fall Food Bank Drive. With the support of employees, friends, family and Edmontonians we are confident it will be a huge success. It's sure to be an outstanding event and we are excited to Feed Edmonton's Food Bank!"- Krystal Phinnimore, Food Drive Coordinator - Canada Post.

This exceptional artistic event will be choreographed by Dance Moves 2 and 3, with dance lines lead by dance students enrolled in their fall dance programs. "We're very excited to be involved with this event! It'll be huge - featuring 200 - 1000 dancers for the filming of a new music video for Stone Iris's, CBC Searchlight nominated hit single "When in Roam", explains choreographer, Jessica Spiridakis. "The line dancers will get free family line dance lessons from 10:00 am - 12:00pm, and will be in full swing and looking good for the cameras from 1:00pm - 2:00pm."

Line dancing is a western-style of dance and is generally performed to country songs like "Cadillac Ranch". This event will be fun for all ages - from kids, to parents, to seniors! Anyone who can tap their toes to the beat can join in - all you need is a group of folks dancing in rows and lines to be part of this 'Cob Mob' line dance. The farm gates open at 9:00 am, and Prairie Gardens & Adventure Farm is offering half-price Haunted Pumpkin Festival tickets on September 27th in support of the event, to all who bring a Food Bank Donation.

The Haunted Pumpkin Festival continues every weekend for the entire month of October. There's a pumpkin patch, corn mazes, a haunted house, even a pumpkin cannon, which provides families with likely their one and only chance to launch a pumpkin into a pirate ship (really!), and for a good cause, to help support the Youth Empowerment & Support Services Society! In short, this might be the most charming and fun festival you'll experience this year! An autumn outing to the pumpkin patch and this month long Halloween festival is an annual tradition over 1 million guests to the farm have enjoyed since 1956.

Stone Iris

Stone Iris is a new soulful, bluesy, country rock band out of Edmonton, Alberta. Six years ago, the Niven brothers - El and Garret - and Jeff Burwash began, with unwavering determination, to become a touring music band. For three years they honed their art, and then they hit the road. Their sound, a raw reflection of the vibe within, brings new meaning to the word classic country. Feeling the music they write, they leave people feeling it too. In a musical landscape saturated with numerous bands and genres, Stone Iris leaves an inter-generational impression. With elements of rock and blues, combined with undertones of a lyrical western tradition, Stone Iris' live shows are steeped in emotion and grit.

Why is Edmonton different?

There are theories. Maybe it's our northern home, where for years we've learned to make our own fun. Perhaps it's our legacy of entrepreneurs dreaming up oddities: the continent's first, biggest and wildest Fringe theatre festival and a shopping mall that at one time had more submarines than the Canadian navy.

Edmontonians have always been unusually keen to try, and build, something new. We're a big city with small town values; a vibrant urban centre in the heart of wilderness.

From close encounters with free roaming bison to surfing indoors to taking your taste buds on a journey to some of the hottest craft beer taprooms, hyper-local bistros and indie bakeries in Canada, you'll find there's a uniqueness to how Edmontonians do ordinary things.

And we want you to be a part of it. One thing's for sure -if you're looking for an unforgettable, original experience, you'll find it here.
