Cobra Electronics Named Finalist in 2012 CTIA E-Tech Awards

Cobra JoyRide™ Recognized for Innovation in Automotive & Safe Driving Mobile Apps

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - Apr 25, 2012) - Cobra Electronics Corporation (NASDAQ: COBR), a leading designer and marketer of award-winning mobile and consumer electronics, today announced that Cobra JoyRide™, a smart charging accessory for personalizing the in-car smartphone experience, has been named a finalist in the Automotive & Safe Driving Mobile Apps category of CTIA's annual Emerging Technology (E-Tech) Awards competition.

The CTIA E-Tech Awards honor the most innovative new products in 15 categories spanning the areas of mobile apps, consumer electronics, enterprise and infrastructure. Winners, including Best in Show and Best Online Pick, will be announced on Wednesday, May 9 at 2:00 p.m. CDT by Jon Fortt, technology correspondent for CNBC on the Exhibit Innovations Stage at International CTIA WIRELESS, taking place May 8-10, 2012 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. Hundreds of entries were judged by a panel of recognized industry experts, media and analysts and scored on innovation, functionality, technological importance, implementation and overall "wow" factor.

Cobra JoyRide for Android™ smartphones is a smart car charging innovation designed to intelligently customize the way the owner's smartphone behaves when entering and exiting their vehicle by automatically reconfiguring the phone for in-car usage. The companion Android app communicates with the JoyRide Charger and opens up a host of possibilities for personalizing and improving the in-car smartphone experience. JoyRide dramatically enhances automotive safety since pushing a single button on the 12V charger can initiate phone calls, launch voice commands, share information about road hazards and live police, pause and play music, and even launch GPS navigation apps or other favorite in-car applications. The simple and intuitive app interface also gives users control over power settings for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth®. The Cobra JoyRide application can also save the GPS position of the owner's vehicle on the Android phone and help them navigate back to their parking spot.
