Nominations Open for COBS BREAD Top Sports Club Grants

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 9, 2008) - Grassroots sporting clubs better be quick off the blocks this week as nominations for local sporting clubs and schools to win a COBS BREAD Top Sports Grant kicks-off just in time for Back to School.

The COBS BREAD Top Sports Grant program was developed as part of COBS' commitment to promote healthy eating and exercise. It offers schools and sports teams in BC, Alberta and the Greater Toronto Area the opportunity to win one of 8 cash grants valued at $2500 each.

Chris Gurney, President of COBS BREAD said the bakery network is keen to lend a helping hand when it comes to sports.

"It's clear that local sporting clubs and schools need some assistance, and we are keen to make a difference in the local communities our bakeries serve. COBS BREAD has a strong focus on health, so supporting local sporting clubs and school teams with Top Sports Grants are a great fit. A healthy diet and exercise is the best way to fight obesity, start one sandwich at a time!" said Chris.

Placing a nomination for a sporting club or school is simple. By purchasing a Sandwich Loaf from any of the 57 COBS BREAD bakeries in British Columbia, Alberta and the Greater Toronto Area, customers earn the right to nominate a sporting club or school team to receive a $2500 cash grant. The more nominations a club receives, the greater the chance of winning one of the eight $2500 grants. Visit for more details.
