CodecSys™ Technology Licensed to Zenterio

The Multi-Codec System to Be Utilized for Mobile and Other Digital TV Applications

SALT LAKE CITY, UT -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 20, 2006 -- Broadcast International (OTC BB: BCST) today announced it has signed a licensing agreement with Zenterio AB, a Swedish company with a focus on mobile and digital TV technologies and solutions. Initially, Zenterio will deploy Broadcast International's patented CodecSys video compression and delivery technology in a cell phone application co-developed with Intel.

"CodecSys continues to grow in acceptance as a highly efficient way to compress video for various applications," said Rod Tiede, Broadcast International President and CEO. "We are very pleased to work with Zenterio to enable the delivery of better quality video to cell phones and to support development of other digital TV and mobile applications in which Zenterio has so much expertise."

"We are very excited to start incorporating the power of CodecSys into our solutions," said Heikki Koskinen, Chairman of Zenterio AB. "Having worked for some time to document the quality improvements and efficiencies made possible by the patented codec-switching process, we are confident that licensing CodecSys will allow us to offer a number of attractive and unique solutions to our clients."

Delivery of high quality video to cell phones is currently a challenge given the limited bandwidth of cellular networks. CodecSys technology opens the door to full-motion video over cellular networks. CodecSys employs real-time artificial intelligence systems to dynamically manage libraries of standard and specialized codecs to efficiently process a particular scene or frame of video and then switches on the fly to another codec that is better suited to the next scene or frame. Exploiting the best attributes of multiple codecs enables 50 to 75 percent reductions in bandwidth compared to single codec solutions. And because CodecSys is a software solution, newly developed codecs can easily be incorporated into the system, ending costly hardware obsolescence.
