Coding Bootcamp Lighthouse Labs Announces the Launch of Devhub: Canada's First Education and Co-Working Space for Software Developers of All Levels

Devhub Will Provide Canadian Developers With the Space, Community, and Services Programmed for Their Growth

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - March 09, 2016) -  Lighthouse Labs, an accelerated education program for web and mobile development, announces the launch of Devhub! Devhub is an innovative approach to providing education and community for developers of all experience levels that centers on the core values of learning, coding, mentorship and teaching.

The bright, open-concept 12,000 square foot space is located at the heart of downtown Toronto at King and Spadina, and will be Canada's first education and co-working space that focuses solely on software developers. Devhub is the new home of Lighthouse Labs' coding bootcamp programs and provides offices and co-working space for developers. Adding value beyond physical space, Devhub will provide a vibrant online community, mentorship from senior developers, and weekly programming and events.

Devhub was designed with one goal in mind: to create the best place for people to grow as programmers. They cite a general lack of resources, programs and organizations that focus on developers and their growth as a major motivator for creating the space. "Developers are lifelong learners. Devhub is a platform where they can grow together, whether they've been coding for two decades or eight weeks," says Khurram Virani, Senior Software Developer and co-founder at Devhub and Lighthouse Labs.

The project has received strong support from the tech community; from big players, such as the City of Toronto and Github; local groups, such as TorontoJS; and dev-shops, such as Functional Imperative. Clear demand shows the community's commitment to building a global technology hub in Canada. "It's incredibly inspiring to be part of building a strong, permanent developer community presence in Toronto and across Canada," says Taz Singh, founder of TorontoJS. "Amazing things can happen when friends, colleagues, and mentors have a place to come together."

The case for investing in code and software developers is obvious: they are the centre of Canadian innovation and they play a central role in Canada's future. "We need to make sure there is a prosperous and supported developer community to bring these ideas to life.Yet, we largely lack the infrastructure to support them throughout their careers," says Jeremy Shaki, Co-Founder at Lighthouse Labs and Devhub. "Hundreds of people come through our doors at Lighthouse Labs to learn to code and successfully launch careers," Shaki says. "With Devhub, we have now created a community-driven platform that allows us to continue support our alumni and developers of all levels."

Devhub will be launched with Devmonth: a 30 day community celebration of all things development. From April 1st to 30th 2016, come join this free initiative that aims to bring Canada's developer community together through a series of daily events, speakers, workshops, hackathons and last, but not least, parties!
