CogniVue Corporation Showcases Driver Assistance System Demonstrations on CV220X Image Cognition Processors at SAE World Congress

DETROIT, MICHIGAN--(Marketwire - April 13, 2011) - CogniVue Corporation, an innovator in programmable Image Cognition Processors (ICPs) for automotive and smart video monitoring applications, today launched a series of CV220X-based Driver Assistance System (DAS) demonstrations for automotive vision systems. CogniVue is showcasing Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), forward Collision Avoidance System (CAS) and Smart Rear Camera (de-warp, multi-view+object detection) demonstrations on its CV220X ICP platform to automotive Tier-1 and OEMs at SAE World Congress.

Developed using CogniVue's ICP software development kit (ICP SDK) framework and the CV2202 Reference Development Kit (RDK), these DAS demonstrations validate the CV220X processor family as a solution for a range of embedded smart camera processing applications for the automotive market. CogniVue ICPs provide high performance processing in a low power, small form-factor device. CV2201 is offered in a 9x9mm2 package that includes 16MByte integrated system memory and power consumption of 220mW.

Paul Newton, Business Development Manager at SMK states, "These demos are a good illustration of the ability of CogniVue's Image Cognition Processors. CogniVue's creation of a new class of processor and their approach of focusing specifically on programmable image cognition processing for small form factor and low power is a welcome addition to the technology available for addressing automotive vision systems applications."

"CogniVue Image Cognition Processors address the image processing requirements for smart camera designs," commented Dr. Mario Heid, Automotive Marketing Manager, Europe, and Worldwide Automotive Strategy at CMOS image sensor supplier OmniVision Technologies, Inc. "We view CogniView's low power programmable ICP devices as a potentially excellent complement to our advanced OV10630 automotive sensors in next-generation automotive smart cameras."

"The complexities of image segmentation, feature extraction and interpretation inherent in DAS algorithms require sophisticated image processing which is delivered with the CV220X parallel array processing architecture – APEX," said Simon Morris, CEO CogniVue Corporation. "These demonstrations reinforce the statement that CogniVue processors provide the best performance, per area, per power, for image cognition applications. Software programmability allows the performance-cost-size advantage to be used across multiple applications which is highly valued by our customers."
