Collaborative Community Research project to develop laneway home for aging seniors, chronically ill

CALGARY, AB--(Marketwired - April 23, 2015) - The Faculty of Environmental Design (EVDS) in collaboration with The Cumming School of Medicine and the Faculty of Nursing will bring together a diverse group of community members who will share insights on the design and practicality of the home. The goal of the project is to create a design that may have practical uses in our own city and allow seniors to age in place. Besides being fitted with practical design features, such as grab bars and features that allow the resident to maneuver around the home comfortably, the Laneway Housing Project is also fitted with technology that allows doctors to interact directly with their patients. Representatives from the Faculty of Environmental Design, the Cumming School of Medicine, the City of Calgary, Calgary Real Estate Board and Avi Urban will be on hand to speak with media.
