College Football Hall of Fame to Partner With Curing Kids Cancer This September for National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - September 01, 2015) - The College Football Hall of Fame has announced it will donate $1 for every full-priced ticket sold during September to Curing Kids Cancer in recognition of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

"Cancer kills more children in the United States than any other disease," said John Stephenson, president and CEO, CFHOF "Yet, childhood cancer receives only four percent of U.S. federal funding for research to eradicate this horrible disease. That is why we are supporting Curing Kids Cancer and their mission to find a cure."

Curing Kids Cancer was founded in 2005 after Grainne and Clay Owen lost their nine-year-old son Killian to leukemia after a four-year battle with the disease. The Owen family lost Killian despite being told by a doctor that there was a new treatment that might have saved his life. The drug was stuck in the lab and could not be given to Killian because of a lack of funding.

"We greatly appreciate the College Football Hall of Fame's commitment to helping us fund research for treatments to make childhood cancer curable in our lifetime," said Grainne Owen, founder of Curing Kids Cancer. "We don't want other families to go through the loss of a child just because of a lack of money."

Curing Kids Cancer has raised more than $7 million for pediatric cancer research. It focuses on innovative, targeted treatments with fewer harmful side effects such as the one their son was unable to have.
