College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Tampa Franchise Is a Family Affair

This Tight-Knit Family Saw an Opportunity to Realize Their Dream of Running a Successful Business Together and Made It Happen

TAMPA, FL--(Marketwired - Oct 20, 2015) - College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving has awarded its first franchise in its home city of Tampa. The rapidly expanding moving and junk removal business is opening all across the United States, and the franchise owned by Robert, Cherryl and Shannen Gleghorn is part of its growing Florida presence.

"We have the unique opportunity of being in the same location as the corporate office -- nobody else has been so far, so we're really going to take advantage of it," Cherryl Gleghorn said. "Tampa knows College Hunks because they are a great corporate citizen. We are really looking forward to showing Tampa what this company's services are, and why it's so successful."

"We are very proud to be Tampa residents, and so we didn't want to establish a franchise here unless we knew the owners would live and breathe our values," said Nick Friedman, CEO and co-founder of College Hunks Hauling Junk. "The Gleghorns are those people. Robert has amazing organizational skills, Cherryl is terrific with people, and Shannen's energy is infectious. We think they're going to be some of the best brand ambassadors we've ever had in any community."

The Gleghorns' College Hunks franchise will serve all of Northeast Tampa.

Robert Gleghorn spent more than 30 years in retail before deciding the time was right to start his own business. The more he learned about College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving, the more he liked the idea, and he soon was able to bring Cherryl on board. Shannen, who was finishing a business management degree at Florida Atlantic University, was an easy sell, as well.

"We went to discovery day, and everyone there met our entire family," Robert Gleghorn said. "We were impressed with the character of everyone we met, and the piece that really cemented it for me was the opportunity to work with my son. That had always been a vision for me, and so when we saw this opportunity and liked everything we found out, we capitalized on it."

"I was actually thinking about going to law school," Shannen Gleghorn said. "But when my parents called and talked to me about this, I was interested. I liked the idea of being a part of something 100 percent from the very beginning. I looked them up online, did my research and got just as excited as my parents were. I liked the College Hunks vision, the growth they've had since they began, and I really liked the whole company. Everything about it looked and sounded really good."

The admiration is mutual, College Hunks co-founder and CEO Omar Soliman said.

"In addition to bringing on younger franchise owners, we also want to help create more family businesses," he said. "A big part of our corporate culture is focused on training and mentoring young people so that they can see how a successful business is run. When it's parents working with their own children and creating a legacy of success, that's even better."
