College of Saint Elizabeth Selects Coraid EtherDrive® Storage to Support Fast-Growing Server and Desktop Virtualization

Coraid's Ethernet SAN Technology Delivers New Jersey College an Unbeatable 5-8x Price-Performance Advantage Over Fibre Channel and iSCSI

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 13, 2011) - Coraid® Inc., a leading developer of Ethernet SAN solutions with more than 1,400 customers worldwide, today announced that the College of Saint Elizabeth (CSE) in Morristown, NJ has selected Coraid EtherDrive® SRX storage arrays to support its VMware environment and desktop virtualization programs. CSE is a four-year private college in the Catholic liberal arts tradition providing academic programs for approximately 2,100 students of diverse ages, backgrounds, and cultures.

"We needed to increase storage to maintain high-performance for our fast-growing virtual environment and to help ensure the success of our desktop virtualization initiative," comments Brad Morton, chief technology officer at CSE. "Coraid has developed a high-performing, easy-to-manage and extremely cost-effective product leveraging Ethernet SAN technology. Coupled with the company's excellent service and support, no other solution within our price range could compete."

CSE purchased a Coraid EtherDrive SRX3200 with close to 30TB of capacity in four solid-state and 14 two-terabyte SATA drives. The installation and configuration of the SRX3200 took just 30 minutes, including the provisioning of storage to CSE's VMware test environment.

Using innovative software, off-the-shelf hardware and standard Ethernet, Coraid EtherDrive storage arrays provide lower OPEX and a 5-8x price/performance advantage over legacy storage. Coraid Ethernet SAN leverages low overhead, massively parallel Ethernet connectivity and the CorOS™ distributed storage operating system to deliver up to 1800 MB/s of throughput -- better than Fibre Channel performance -- using low-cost, industry-standard hardware.

Coraid's Ethernet SAN solutions provide enterprises of all sizes with flexible, scale-out, high-performance storage, ideally suited to dynamic high-performance computing, virtualization, video and cloud computing environments. The arrays scale to multiple petabytes with a flat Ethernet topology and connectionless, parallel design. The design also supports business continuity, featuring Coraid's disk-portability technology to allow users to swap drives between arrays for upgrades, service reconfiguration, data transfers, or disaster recovery on the fly.
