Colorado Springs Veterinarian Welcomes New Doctor to Practice

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO--(Marketwire - Feb 5, 2012) - Dr. Scott Hamann, Dr. Corrina Hamann, and the pet care team at Yorkshire Veterinary Hospital recently announced that Dr. Katie Phillips, DVM, will be joining their practice in March 2012. Katie's extensive experience in small animal, exotic and avian veterinary medicine will be an exciting addition to the services already available at the Yorkshire practice. Dr. Phillips, who graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002, is looking forward to bringing her love of animals of all species to the vet clinic. She will be seeing patients on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

The veterinary clinic currently offers pet healthcare services that include preventative, diagnostic and urgent care treatment. Pet owners can call to schedule their pet's appointment for vaccinations, routine pet wellness exams, pet surgery, spay and neuter procedures, including pet dental care.

According to Yorkshire's current staff, each veterinarian brings specific knowledge and skill from different areas of veterinary medicine. Owner Dr. Scott Hamann has experience in emergency room veterinary services, pet trauma, surgery, anesthesia and animal pain management. Dr. Corinna Hamann focuses on surgical procedures, pet dentistry and internal medicine. Dr. Mark Kombert has experience as a zoo vet and sees exotic and avian pets as well as cats and dogs. Dr. Phillips will enable the practice to care for even more exotic and avian pets, as well as her dog and cat patients.

"Everyone at our office is excited that we're adding another Colorado Springs veterinarian with such great experience to our practice," Dr. Scott Hamann said. "Our animal hospital will be able to provide services for many more types of pets. Sometimes it's hard for owners of birds and exotic pets to find an animal clinic that can meet their pets' healthcare needs. Bringing Katie on staff really rounds out the services we can offer to our clients."

Dr. Phillips will be joining the staff at Yorkshire Veterinary Clinic beginning in March 2012, as she is currently on maternity leave. She will be available three days a week to see patients. Yorkshire Veterinary Hospital started in 1979, and was purchased by Drs. Scott and Corrina Hamann in 2005 after the previous owners retired. In May 2011, the practice relocated to its current location which includes an in-house laboratory, digital radiography, laser surgery facilities, and ultrasound capabilities. It is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association, member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and is an accredited by the Better Business Bureau.

The practice also works to improve pet care throughout the region through its support of local animal charities including the Colorado Greyhound Association, Feline Friends, Harley's Hope, Four Paws, and Golden Retriever Freedom Rescue.
